Frisbee Hammer throw

Gerneral Terminology

Hammer - A forehand grip that is thrown over the head. This throw results in the disc flying upside down before tailing off at the end of its flight. This throw is used for longer and higher throws. This is a good strategy for throwing to a teammate who is bigger than his/her defender.

Frisbee Catch

General Terminology

Don't run to it unless it is dropping prematurely, just stay in front of it or slightly to the side with your dominant hand on the side that the Frisbee is coming in.

  • Put your hands in the same pose as you would throwing a Frisbee.

  • Put your hands on each side of the Frisbee and squeeze it.
  • Frisbee forehand throw

    General termonology

Point at your target. Usually it is another person, so you will want to aim at the person, preferably at a height that they will be able to reach or jump out and catch the Frisbee.

Move your arm forward quickly and get ready to flick the Frisbee towards your intended target. Straighten the arm and as your arm is almost fully extended, flick the wrist and release the Frisbee out towards the target. You should release the Frisbee at around hip height, although this may vary depending on the height of your recipient.

Don't try to put too much power behind the Frisbee release. there is a balancing act in the amount of power that you use to throw a Frisbee. Too much or too little will cause such reactions as the Frisbee hitting the ground, wobbling and flying wildly. Try to throw it smoothly and firmly - not too easy, and not too hard.
